Leah knew what it felt like to be overlooked, to strive for love and never receive it. She was unfavored—undesired by her own husband, the one person she longed to be seen and loved by. Yet, in the midst of her heartache, God saw her. And as He so often does, God took this ordinary, rejected woman and used her to fulfill something extraordinary.
Leah became the mother of Judah, the royal line of David, and ultimately the line of Jesus (Matthew 1:2-3).
Her life was filled with heartache, rejection, and pain, but Leah didn’t give up. She didn’t crumble under the weight of feeling unseen. Instead, she remained faithful. She served God even in the depths of her suffering.
At first, Leah sought validation from her husband, hoping that with each child, he would finally love her. But after giving birth to Judah, she turned her gaze to God, declaring, “This time, I will praise the Lord.”
How many blessings, provisions, and miracles will it take for us to recognize where they truly come from? How long will we keep chasing the approval of others, when the Creator of the universe sees us, loves us, and calls us His own?
This is the moment to stop striving and start surrendering. Turn your heart to God, and like Leah, say, “This time, I will praise the Lord.”
